In themes of romance, the first european city that comes to mind is Paris. But many other cities in Europe can also exude romantic charm and be the perfect location for a winter date. Paris for sure is a beautiful and romantic city. But here we talk about Winter Date Ideas when you are traveling to Berlin, Vienna, or Budapest.

When you travel with your favorite person during the cold times and you want to do some romantic stuff, let’s get you inspired for some winter dates here:

Berlin – Romance and the city known for brutalism

Berlin is the European version of “the city that never sleeps” as it is known for its hard style techno party scene. Also, the rich history is mostly not directly associated with romance. Nevertheless, there are possibilities to do some romantic winter dates in Berlin.

The first idea is to go ice skating at the Potsdamer Platz. This district of Berlin is symbolic for the rebuilt city and the modernness, which is the German capital proud of. During the winter the central place is a winter dream with an ice rink and a toboggan run. And after skating don’t miss the opportunity to drink a Glühwein at one of the little stalls there!

When you don’t want to spend so much time outside in the cold. The second idea is maybe more your type. Go up the Berlin TV tower and enjoy different views over the city. It is over 200 meters (656 feet) high and by far the highest point in the city. The perfect time to go up is right before sundown, you will have first daytime views, then beautiful lights and colors during the sunset. And the romantic grand finale is to watch the city becoming lightened in the dark.

Vienna: Winter Dates in the city of music

The city of Vienna is beautiful at any time of the year and always worth a visit. But especially in winter it radiates a special romanticism. Simply walking around the streets of the city and enjoying a tour of the Christmas markets is already super romantic.

But if you want even more you should go to a classical concert in the different locations in Vienna. For example the one at the Karlskiche, the churches inside is beautiful and the acoustics outstanding. Even more exceptional sound can be experienced in the Musikverein. They built a concert room based on the vibrating acoustics of the inside of a guitar.

For the second Winter Date idea you need a little bit of luck with the weather. Vienna does not have snow everyday in the winter months but when it’s there it makes all the castles fairylike. When you are lucky and there is snow during your stay in the Capital of Austria, you should definitely take a walk in the park of the Schönbrunn castle.

Budapest: City of baths

The city of baths leads directly to the first winter date ideas for Budapest. Go to one of the famous thermal baths. The city is situated on over 100 hot springs and offers numerous historic and modern baths. The Gellert Bath for example is known for its Art Nouveau architecture and the Széchenyi-Bath is probably the most famous spa in Europe. Relaxing together in the warm water while outside the snow is falling, if that’s not romantic?

The other winter date idea for Budapest sounds maybe basic, but it is not. Go in a local restaurant and have a traditional hungarian dinner. The culinary scene in Hungary is special and amazing. They have delicious food, extraordinary vines and delectable sweets. They offer everything you need for a romantic candle light dinner.
